In order to enrich the campus cultural life, develop and improve students’ chanting abilities, cultivate their ardent love of language and words as well as enhance their Chinese literacy, on the afternoon of 21st December, the Chinese Department of Anqing Foreign Language School’s Senior High Section held the recital contest designated for students from the 10th grade.
To begin with, this grand event was hosted by group leader Chen Wanghua with the Chinese Teaching& Research Group from the Senior High Department. Also in attendance were Principal Assistant Qian Zhihong, Director Xu Haihong, Director Cao Siqing and all the Chinese teachers with the Senior High Division.
To be specific, after a few days’ intense selection, 22 candidates from the 10th grade finally stood out. They affectionately read aloud ‘River of Red’, ‘Phoenix Hairpin’, ‘To the Oak’, ‘I Have a Dream’, ‘I Love You, My Love’ in addition to ‘Language of Flowers’ which was originally written by students themselves.
Evidently, students expressed their profound love towards motherland, people, homeland and kinsfolk in many styles with high-pitched, sincere, cadenced and melodious poetic prose. All contestants displayed their high recitation level, classical poem rhymes and implications, which presented all teachers and students a splendid, vivid and dynamic poetry recitation feast.
To sum up, this fantastic event not only provided students with a platform to showcase themselves, promoted the characteristics of scholarly campus, but also cultivated their taste, enriched their cultural deposits and enabled them to appreciate the artistic charm of classical poetry.
